2017 Arfion Chardonnay - $37

from 222.00

We believe that Chardonnay should have real flavour without being overly lean or acidic. We want to have fruit weight and texture but in a subtle way.

Our 17 Chardonnay shows nutty, just ripe nectarine and white flower aromatics. A moreish savoury style with a slippery mouthfeel followed by crisp orange zest.

Full Moon Vineyard – Gladysdale – Upper Yarra – Yarra Valley

We work with Simon Harte at the Full Moon Vineyard in the Upper Yarra Valley. Located on grey loam soils over a gentle west facing slope in Gladysdale, this immaculate vineyard is tendered to like a garden. It’s a marginal subregion for grapegrowing but with careful vineyard management these mature vines have produced pristine, powerful fruit.

2017 is my 11th vintage in the Yarra and I haven’t seen one as complete or balanced as this.

We had regular water, mild temperatures and near perfect warm days and cool nights for the production of quality, fine tuned grapes. It didn’t feel easy, but it did feel calm and collected. We had time to eat, drink (heaps of beer) and not stress. I think the wines show this relaxed balance.
